Please sign up two weeks prior to the start of class. You will receive a 15% discount on all supplies purchased for your class projects including equipment and sewing machines. If make-up classes are needed, they will be determined by the instructors.

To register for a class online, please go to the calendar page, click on the appropriate class with your cursor, and fill out the requested information. You may also call and register with a credit card or stop by our NEW store location. Looking forward to teaching you!

April 1

Beginner Sewing: Fundamentals

Wednesdays,April 1, 8, 15 and 22

Level: Beginner
For the very beginner, this class will teach you the fundamentals of garment construction. From pattern use, fabric grain, measuring and machine use. Form the foundation for a lifetime of creative sewing! You will make a simple little skirt or pj’s with an elastic band in this first class

April 3

Fashion Design 1 “Sew the Dress”

Fridays, April 3, 10 and 17
10:00am – 12:30pm
$110 (3 week/2.50 hour sessions)
Instructor: Kimberly Ramberg

Level: Intermediate (prerequisite is “Design the Dress”)
Make your simple and elegant dress design with muslin; learn how to line the bodice and gather or pleat the skirt; learn how to insert a zipper (regular or invisible zipper). We will choose materials appropriate for the design on the first day with teacher’s guidance. Take these classes over again to add to the complexity of the design.

April 4

Intro to Cosplay: Costumes for Kids and Adults

Saturdays, April 4, 11 and 18

Level: Intermediate
Learn some valuable wearable shape and line techniques while recreating your favorite character as a costume for yourself. Master the art of interfacing and wire bending to create “fantastic” designs for cosplay conventions. Learn the value of nude colored netting. Individual experience based upon costume choice. Intermediate learners may use store-bought patterns while advanced learners will find it in their best interest to create their own pattern. Sign up again for more help.

Pillows & Piping

Level: Beginner to Intermediate (must know basics of machine use)
Learn techniques on how to make easy continuous bias tape for piping a pillow and how to install a zipper.

A “Piece of Cake” T-shirt

This project will soothe your sweet heart because it is easier than you may think to make a t-shirt with this new pattern! Pick out fabric on the first day with Robyn and choose from our wonderful knits!

Skirt to Flirt

Pick a skirt pattern with the teacher’s help which has panels, pleats, pockets and a zipper to advance your skills in this easy skirt class! Make a flirty skirt perfect for your style and body shape. Learn basic pattern alteration for the right fit.

Beginner Roman Shade

Level: Beginner
Learn the basics of machine sewing while making a roman shade for your window. Learn to measure, cut and sew your fabric for casings, ring tape and hemming. Arrive with your window and frame measurements and let Robyn help you choose the proper design and fabric for the project on the first day. And don’t forget, you receive a 15% student discount for class materials! If you designing for a room we need 2 weeks’ time to special order from our beautiful new Magnolia collection of upholstery fabrics.

Designers’ Apron

Wednesdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27

Level: Beginner
In this beginner class for sewing and pattern designing we will make the ideal Apron while focusing on useful sewing techniques. You will have an introduction to draping and pattern making, learn how to sew darts how to add pockets, a sash and neck ties and make your own ruffle or bias tape for your personally designed apron. Follow this class with “Design a Dress” and “Sew a Dress”.

“Pipy” Shell in knit

Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21 and 28

Level: Beginner
This brand new pattern for a knit top will put a little pep in your step this spring when you realize what you are capable of accomplishing! Pick out fabric on the first day with Robyn and choose from our wonderful knits! Also on the first day you will learn to measure yourself, size and trace your pattern.

Unfinished Symphonies and Open Studio

Reserve the classroom for $10 for first hour, $5 for every hour after. (no instructor)

Or sign up to join the class time from 2:00pm – 4:00pm for $30 and have an instructor’s help

All Skill Levels: Kids and Adults
Great for personal projects, finishing up a project, or just to have some special 1-on-1 attention! Schedule time if you would like to get better “fit” for your garments, learn special techniques for advancing your sewing skills, learn basic sewing techniques, draping fabric on a dress form for fashion design, learn how to draft the design onto paper and make a plan on sewing steps or make a pattern of an existing garment.
