Please sign up two weeks prior to the start of class. You will receive a 15% discount on all supplies purchased for your class projects including equipment and sewing machines. If make-up classes are needed, they will be determined by the instructors.

Learn the very basics of machine sewing while making a simple curtain for your window. Learn to measure and cut and sew your fabric for rod casing and hemming.

Learn how to make your own designs; from drawing, draping on the dress form and pattern drafting. Learn techniques for sewing with finer fabric. Design your own wardrobe or something elegant for a special event.

It’s a Cinch – Introduction to Corset Making

Have you always wanted to make a corset but felt intimidated by the prospect? Making a corset is complicated, but it isn’t hard when the process is broken down into organized, doable steps. If you’re comfortable using a sewing machine and understand basic sewing techniques, you can make a corset. Sign up for this class, learn from one of the best local costumers and you will leave this class with a quality corset and a pattern that fits you so well you can make another one whenever you want. Choose from our cotton sateen, lace and other fine fabrics and receive 15% student discount.

Pillows & Piping

Portraits in Fiber
Thursdays, September 11th – December 11th

Instructor: Tetayna Antrobious

Level: Beginner
Paint a portrait from a picture or from life. Map out the colors with fabric scraps to sew a portrait with a combination of hand stitching and machine stitching. Do a selfie! Make gifts or put the whole family together as a quilt.

Intro to Cosplay: Costumes for Kids and Adults

Level: Intermediate
Learn some valuable wearable shape and line techniques while recreating your favorite character as a costume for yourself. Master the art of interfacing and wire bending to create “fantastic” designs for cosplay conventions or Halloween. Learn the value of nude colored netting. Individual experience based upon costume choice. Intermediate learners may use store-bought patterns while advanced learners will find it in their best interest to create their own pattern.

Come out on a Friday night with your special someone or best friend and learn the basics of sewing together! Make a pair of p.j.’s in a light weight summer cotton or a warm flannel for when the cold weather returns!

Introduction to Fashion Design: Designing and Drafting

Level: Beginner to intermediate (must know basics of machine use)
Learn the basics of draping for fashion design and pattern drafting. Bring your design ideas and some muslin and learn how to manipulate the fabric like a sculpture! You will have a finished paper pattern for a bodice or skirt to make later. Continue with “Design the Dress” and “Sew the Dress” to start sewing up your designs in the fall.

October 27

Kid’s Button Down Casual Shirt

Mondays, October 27, November 3, 10 and 17
6:00pm – 8:30pm

$150 (4 sessions)

Level: Intermediate (must know basics of machine use)
Make a casual shirt with a back yoke, convertible or stand up collar and learn how to make your buttonholes with Robyn’s help. This will be the perfect school shirt. Make it again with different fabric to dress it up for Sunday or special occasions.

November 7

Fashion Design 1 “Design the Dress”

Learn the basics of fashion design. Learn how drape muslin on a dress form for a simple bodice for a dress. Create your own paper pattern and write your instructions. Apply a $5 discount for signing up for the “Sew the Dress” session to follow.

Level: Intermediate (prerequisite is “Design the Dress”)
Make your simple and elegant dress design with muslin; learn how to line the bodice and gather or pleat the skirt; learn how to insert a zipper (regular or invisible zipper). We will choose materials appropriate for the design on the first day with teacher’s guidance. Take these classes over again to add to the complexity of the design.
